Interstellar - A common man's review

Interstellar.. is a creative visualization of combination of many existing concepts, futuristic ideas and highly imaginative but wild thoughts..to start with the movie is entertaining and at the same time makes one think a lot. Screenplay is crafted well and editing is amazing. Concept of gravity has been explored in a fantastic way. Highly appreciable special effects, background score and use f silence(clearly adopted from movie gravity). In the 2 hr 50 min movie one wont find a boring shot. But space/universe is a colossal canvas  mostly unexplored nd so which when picturized demands utmost care. Although the movie doesn't venture into the details of space travel and merely grazes the surface, there are directorial loopholes which may surface as vacuum spaces in the minds of average audience. General human tendency to resist accepting new concepts which contradict the existing may lead to indigestion of the director's theoretical explanations. Although I don't intend to reveal the story line, a very ancient Indian concept f 'Aham brahmasmi' rang a bell somewhere in the movie. It is like viewing a seed like a huge tree indirectly conveying that I contain this universe. The narrow mindedness/ignorance of man to view the world in 3 dimensions has also been questioned. Time, gravity and love have key roles in the movie although the blend could have been slightly better. Great thoughts and even greater movie..but definitely not a class apart like other Nolan movies.. All in all the movie can be given a 7.6 on 10. In brief, Interstellar is a movie which has the capability to convey to the confused audience tat their state f confusion might be because of their inability to completely perceive what the director intended to express and thereby masking the possibility that it might actually be the directors ability to deliberately confuse them..

I know, memories fade away with time, like a sand sculpture made on a beach. I have very little time to follow my memory lane to the minutest detail. Every passing day, my mind is like a village hit by a cyclone – forced back to where it all began. The effort to think also doubles. And so with least delay, here I start again.

I opened my eyes as the huge analog clock had rung three times in symphony. As I looked at it, the needles stood in a perfect disciplined right angle.  Vipin was sitting at the chair next to my feet, earphones plugged to his ear, listening to his favorite tunes. The speaker at the top left corner sprung into action, virtually screaming a familiar three toner, a pre cursor to a railway announcement. Our train was expected to arrive in the next 5 min.  The rather gloomy waiting room saw some movement as people who had occupied it like refugees began straightening up, to move to platform no 5, for catching the much awaited and late running train. A distant hoot accompanied bt the approaching flash light seem to lighten up the dull faces, and within no time, the roaring locomotive stopped with a metallic screech in front of us, like a tamed elephant waiting for its master to board,  with its knees bent. Thanks to the efficiency of the loco pilot, the coach, bearing the seats allotted to us, stopped exactly in its assigned place.

With battery running critically low + no charger at hand,  I pause my thoughts for today.

My Travel notes

Every time I have gone on a trip, however small it might have been, I have always wanted to pen down my experiences and turn the spectacles to words. It has remained a thought or unfulfilled want though, never turning realistic.  Many trips have missed getting inked down.  And hence this note -

Deserts have never amazed me. Dryness has always reminded me of sadness and dull memories, partly maybe because I come from a lush green part of the world which is caressed by the sea and where rains are often celebrated as a festival. So an unavoidable trip to the Pink city Jaipur, which is the capital of the Desert state of India hadn’t generated much interest in me. But the traveler inside me couldn’t bear the thought of three full days being spent in Jaipur. That is how I decided to tag Jodhpur and Ajmer in the trip, the only intention being to avoid the monotonousness of Jaipur. Another curious friend of mine, Vipin,  also agreed to join me at the Pink city. He had also cleverly booked train tickets for a night train from Jaipur to Jodhpur, departing at 02:30 in the night, which was expected to add on to the misery.

And thus started the trip..

"SWITCH OFF THE LIGHTS"

It was quite unusual for 40 odd Mexxians to be present in a final sem mech class and today was one such day.Our class, which is in the first floor of a new block was just recently electrified, and the bright smiling tube lights and quiet running fans were a "living proof".Although the sem is almost coming to an end, for most of us,sitting in class was both refreshing and thrilling -a vacation from the tiring whole day cuts and bunks, which was evident from our happy faces. We were all in a get together mood with a rock concert in background, only difference being our faculty, taking the place of the rock singer and our series exam papers taking the place of his guitar. The subject dealt with Energy conversion and the faculty was better known as "_"(hope you get the name,if u didn't,the name is synonymous with a commonly used character in email IDs , tats the biggest clue I can give) , a short young man in his 30s ,with a predictable blue jeans+ tucked in check shirt attire and generously itchy at times.Distribution of guitar(exam papers of course) got over pretty soon with a display of array of marks ranging from single digit to up to 90%.When finished,he carefully opened the old red bind book of his, turning the pages carefully as though expecting the black and white pictures to come into life as he looked at each of them.Soon the magic words came "So....write this down..".A mass grumbling followed by bang on desks followed. The words seemed to be dancing out from his mouth singing some "other world" language song as they did.BlahBlah clu clu gla gla pem pem chhaa chaa chaa.....he continued. He went on with some illustrations on how one can conserve energy and stuff. The intention was to add fun,but with a failed mission,he changed track."Guys.. haven't you guys seen the Ad in which film stars come and ask us to switch off the lights??",..BANG..Off went all the fans and tubes. He was awestruck by this "phenomenon" and the whole class was laughing out loud. "Come back.."he told the class regaining his composure and BANG....the lights and fans were back in action. This time even the most emotionless guy(lets not name him) was LOL..Not uttering another word, our Hero "_" took the attendance sheet and called out ATTENGUNDENCEEEEE....

Education – An Illustrative Report (Autopsy)

Recently, I happened to enter into a casual talk with one of my juniors – a small lean girl and a first year. That seems an improbable start – so here’s how it started. 6 of us, all final years, were gathered at one of our favourite hangouts of the college, better known as the ‘Mexx Point’. Our college comprises of 4 tiers of buildings connected by steps. The Mexx point, in fact, connects the second and the third tiers. Its builder must’ve been an amazing architect, for, in addition to offering shade the whole day, its secluded construction offers much privacy. The time was 5 minutes past 4 and most of the first years were on their way back home. ‘Meeting’ first years too was nothing new for us final years, and this time, it was the small, lean girl who got the call. She was greeted by a bunch of usual questions by all of us, taking turns. One answer led to another question and so on.
“Have you read The Ramayana?”, asked one of us. “I’ve read it as a story, but I’m not familiar with the poem version.”, she replied. “Who’s your favourite character?”, came the counter-question. “Sita”, she demurely answered. All of us were curious and questioned her again about the reasons. “Sita was brave. She did not surrender to Rama’s male chavunism and died instead.”
(Sriram was a male chavunist? WOW ..that was news to me!)
*************************************************************************************
Yet another day,
Halfway through my lunch in the canteen, I received a call. It was one of my juniors. “Bro, a six year old girl who is a cancer patient, urgently needs blood. Could you please arrange for it? Two persons of any blood group will do. I’m at the Regional Cancer Center, now.” Now, blood donation was not new to our college. Every week, at least one person donates blood to the needy. But this was an urgent call that deserved quick action. I caught a first year and asked him to get two people from his class, after passing on the contact number of the person who needs blood. As expected, he returned after five minutes, answering that no one was willing to donate blood. “They are afraid, period.”
Even he wasn’t willing to donate.
[Blood donation is crime! Now, this is news too!]
*************************************************************************************
The outcome of the two incidents is omitted out of irrelevance, but, they show how educated our youth really is. As evident, Ignorance, and cowardice better describe education in our context.
Indian mythology is a symbolic representation of various moral values that man ought to keep. A set of stories, truth or fiction, are written to teach man various ethics and morals. Our ancestors must have incorporated these stories so that the youth find it easy to learn values – otherwise raw and boring. The media too has played a significant role in picturizing stories in ways more than one. If picture stories in magazines were the first to show up, cartoons and mythical characters in 3D are the latest crop. The intention of such representation is still good. Instead of imbibing the stuff in these representations, our youth go to the extent of chanting “Wheel Bhakti Vandana, Om Namah Shivaya”, instead of the classic three-word-treatise to Lord Shiva. And some even call Rama a “male chavunist”.
Leaving the story intact, the ‘moral value part’ has been lost somewhere in between and self-created explanations have replaced them. ‘Criticism’ started playing its role at the wrong place even before ‘understanding’ had its first dialogue. “Male chavunist Rama” is a shocking example in this regard.
MORAL: “Keep your mouths closed. Open your eyes and ears.” Imbibe the stuff first, and then think of blaring out.
The reason that scared the first years in the second illustration was , probably, the wrong message that has got into the minds of these cowards that one has a high chance to procure AIDS and other STD’s while donating blood! Whereas, fact is that it’s spread only through reused syringes and used blood packets that’ve been in contact with an HIV career’s blood.
Surveys boast about Kerala’s 90% literacy-rate. But come to think of it, literacy is a huge farce.
Critics and renowned educationalists vocally debate about the prominence of education over literacy. Education is the real goal, they argue.
But I would like to correct them and say that education is mere ‘parrot talk’, awareness is the key to empowerment. If these ‘educated’ kids with 15 years of excellent schooling refuse to donate blood, I will be forced to say that education is nonsense; awareness is what makes real sense. In today’s world, anyone who can mug things up can call himself ‘educated’ in a matter of a few years. But awareness is something superlative and requires a luxury called “thinking skills”, towards its accomplishment. If awareness was part and parcel of the youth who couldn’t care more about the value of human life in peril using the pretext of “fear of donating blood”, numerous volunteers would have come up, every time an urgent call for blood came in.
MORAL: “Make yourself aware. Don’t waste your time in education.” Don’t just mug up things, think for sometime in between.
Now comes the big question – Who will make the ignorant and the cowards, aware?
Articles like mine can only guide, but self awareness is the real answer

It hurts..
When U lend your shoulder to let
everyone climb the wall,and when
its your turn,u see none around

It hurts
when U cover your thorns carefully to
not prick anyone, and get pricked from behind
by the ones for whom u were being careful

It hurts...It really does...

It feels Good...

It feels good...
-when U share ur words with someone and they say..'I feel so good and motivated'
-when U lend ur ears to someone and they express 'I feel so relaxed and complete after talking to U'
-when U spend time with someone and they say 'I feel so comfortable when I am with U'
It feels so good when I am 'U'...but rarely have I known how it feels to be 'I'...

Twelve anxious rings passed before he took the phone.
“para Vishnu” said Hari’s voice.
“Da, you free right”, I said, hinting I’d something important (to me at least) to tell him
H: “ Yes, I’m free”
Me: “I was just going through a few blogs ,had read your latest ones earlier and today I was reading Abhilash sir’s and Abhi’s blogs.Nee Ablilash sirinde aa “single line “ kanda?
I asked him sounding heavily excited.
H:Which one? I didn’t read his latest one,but I think I’ve read all others.what is so interesting?
ME: “No. Its not his latest one. He had written it in March, just listen”.

“When Nature wanted a Canvas........
to draw the drooping pine-tree branches........I couldn't resist offering my body.......”

H: “Wowwww.. that sounds amazing”.
ME: “Da, dont know why but after reading this ,I am not sure how to express it, but I was just overflowing with emotions .I am going mad over here. It has struck me like a lightning”
H: “Hi hi”.
Me: “Da, I’m bloody damn serious. At first I didn’t understand the real meaning of it, but the line seemed to convey a thousand words. Then I took a look at the comments-there was just two, one by Abhi and the other- sir’s reply to it. You remember sir taking a couple of weeks off right?? He had a skin allergy- Pityriasis rosea, got the name from Abhi’s comment,It said
“Pityriasis rosea is a common skin condition in children and young adults
Then how'd u end up getting this? Being in the company of too many YOUNG ADULTS might be the effect[:)]”.

And sir’s reply was
“But it's not contagious, so the question of company I keep doesn't arise....But some people say that I remain young at heart (read mind)....and now, as I have always suspected, there's proof that my body remains young too...”

“That’s all unimportant. The thing is ,I just read the lines once more”

“When Nature wanted a Canvas........
to draw the drooping pine-tree branches........I couldn't resist offering my body.......”

and it had indeed expressed a thousand words.

“I lost control on myself for about a minute. And don’t know why ,I was on the verge of crying”.

It was indeed a long dialogue and I could feel his excitement from a whoosh sound which had to be his breath speeding up.
H: “Hmmm..I’ve had similar situations ..and…”he was interrupted.
Me: “And then I felt so much excited and inspired and don’t know what all to say, then I went to Abhi’s blog.He too had written a wonderful blog on his Kolkatta visit. It seemed to me that his style had changed to a more matured writing . Earlier I’ve felt that he had a rebel or aggressive writing which mostly included F*ck offs and @ss holes.. although I enjoyed most of it, I meant the posts . But reading through this one ,each line seemed to add up to my spirit. He had mentioned about his reading habit and stuff and after seeing all this, I again felt like falling into that uncontrollable state again”
H: “Wow.. all this sounds so exciting to me too. You must write about this Vishnu. These are the times when you must write blogs. So start right away.
Me: “Da.. I don’t know what to do and what to say. And I swear I’m not exaggerating on this.. I felt like I am nothing..I haven’t read much books ,maybe jus for name sake, I was never into reading and was into blogging just months back ..and now I feel like reading a thousand books,I feel guilty for not starting reading until now.. I feel like I am a grain of sand.I don’t know if I’ll write or not.. but you must help me out..I don’t know what to read.. I don’t know authors, I don’t know anything…”
H: “Hi hi.. I’ll help you out, no problem, I’ll arrange for books for you and will make sure you get good ones”

The rest of the conversation is not very important, so I think I'll stop about the call here.

But there are quite a few things that I’d like adding up to this, as the ones reading the blog might not have got the whole thing.

Let me start from Mr Abhilash Suryan or Abhilash sir as we call him. He is one of my best teachers at college, from the Mechanical Department. Apart from this he is a quizzer, a voracious Reader and an excellent blogger. Let me once again type that one line poem of his for repeating it will only inspire me more

“When Nature wanted a Canvas........
to draw the drooping pine-tree branches........I couldn't resist offering my body.......”

He had written this post on March, but I hadn’t read it. I had read the one he wrote in April but somehow missed this one out. As Sreenivasan says throughout the film Nadodikaatu “Ellatinum athindethaya samayamundu Daasa…” which means things will happen at the right time. Maybe this was the right time, so I came across it. And now I am so very happy that I did. I wouldn’t dare to explain the meaning of this line to my dear readers.Instead I would advice you to look to the left side of my blog where you’ll find the link to his blog. Thank you sir for those lines just inspired me a lot,I cant say how or why or anything. And I don’t even know what touched me so much but I just felt like falling at his feet for I could see a thousand words expressed.just like Arjuna’s arrow.. “Edukumbol onnu thodukkumbol pathu pathikumbol aayiram” . I am not over expressing here, but this is exactly what I felt..the power of words.. Its amazing how words can encourage, inspire change your life . I am sure this will be a new beginning in my life.

And now about the “aggressive blogger”-He is Abhijith aka Abhi, was my senior at college, now working as a mechanical engineer in Pune. He is also a quizzer, one of Abhilash sir’s favorites and one of the best in the history of our college ,an excellent critic and a blogger who has a style of his own which I have termed “aggressive”. Now he has started to adopt some changes it seems, to a more matured writing, maybe because he has turned 22 and employed but I’m sure his basic style will remain unchanged. His blog link is also available in the left side of your screen, which I am sure you’ll enjoy going through. That will give you a better picture about him. My entry to blogging was by reading his blog .I was quite inspired by it and decided to start one of my own. He has encouraged me a lot by his comments and I was very happy to receive a call from him shortly after reading his blog and getting overwhelmed with emotions. He too is a well read man and that is obvious from his favorite books list. I was always inspired by it ,but today I felt a ton more. Going deeper, into “the” posts, titled “Birthday blues” and “Longest weekend of my life” . In the first one ,he made a mention on Hritik’s film Lakshya which showcases the transformation of a young man from a lazy carefree guy to a disciplined military man facing a war .I was quite inspired by the film and had always felt that I was like his character in the first part of the film, and was eagerly waiting for the “transformation” part. Since I was in a different state of mind after the “single line”, this served as my first add on.
And then I read the 2nd post, which was about his weekend trip to Kolkatta. This time he gave a longer intro in which he gives a brief mention about the company he works for ,and his duties there. Being a mechanical engineering student and a one not very interested getting into the software world, I was excited reading through and could visualize the situation to some extent. This was the second add on.
Next was his mention about a book store there. In a single line, he described the entire book store(maybe not completely, but I could see it) .This coupled with a not very nice photo of his  with the books he bought made me wonder about my relation with books. I felt guilty to be frank as I was not at all a reader, my knowledge about books was very limited, but at the same time felt encouraged to start reading. I felt like reading a thousand books.
To finish with, he had written an end note which will arouse spirits of any mechanical engineer and that was the fourth add on…This was it. I had it all.

I took the phone and dialed Harisankar-the 3rd character of this post. He is my batch mate at college doing his Btech in IT. He is a master blogger ,one of my favorites, along with the two others in this post, an excellent reader crazy about his favorite authors ,a very good singer and an able anchor. He is one of my inspirations in this not so familiar blogging world and has helped me a lot in this. I owe him a lot. And that is exactly the reason why I chose to call him. I was sure he was the right person who could listen to me at that moment. My heart was beating fast as his phone started to ring, and that’s how I reached line one of this post..

"WHEN WATER TAKES A “BREAK”

Jun 5, 2008

“The day, WATER, sun, moon, night -- I do not have to purchase these things with money.”…these words by the Roman comic poet Platus would have only been a “read and laugh” line when he had written it. But its high time that we start to think about these words twice?? All of Nature’s resources were like taken for granted from time known. Man has been using it… or rather misusing it to some extent, without knowing how priceless these are.. its only when he faces a shortage that he realizes how important these resources are..

Our city faced an acute water shortage like never before, last week .The reason for it is what surprised me.. there was a leakage in the main pipeline from Aruvikara which provides water to the whole city.. well.. most of it. It had been weeks since it started, and the authorities were ignorant as usual.. At last it was brought to their notice.. and the hunt for the leak spot started.. it continued for almost 3 days. .but they failed to detect it.. the reason being that this was one of the oldest pipelines in the city and with time, tons and tons of soil had deposited over it.. over two storeys of hard soil.. Unearthing it was no simple task.. the leak didn’t show up for 3 days.. The wastage of water seemed to dawn upon the “authorities” all of a sudden.. and they STOPPED PUMPING ..Which meant simply NO WATER FOR THE CITY.. it happened so suddenly that night.. without any prior notice.. that no buckets in the city would have been kept filled.. The next day morning of not many would have been “good” ..you wouldn’t want pipes to growl and blow air at you when you are looking for water for something “urgent”.. would you??The next 3 days saw the “city”zens going crazy for water..
For some, it was a “climb up look down process”.. the overhead storage tanks now constantly got some attention.. and for some others it was a “look down pull up process”.. the pulleys at wells were now working overtime.. this continued for 2 days.. water level was going down. .and people were getting anxious.. they were unsure what to do next.. many even predicted the seemingly impossible, yet inevitable ..”Purchasing water for money”.. Nowadays this phrase is not something strange.. all of us are used to the packaged drinking water culture.. but for an average urban family, that too in Gods own country where water scarcity is scarce ,buying water for daily use was something which could never be foreseen. .
The situation would have slowly gone out of hand and most of the 4 member families would have started turning into a KRA CC 4.. thanks to the effort of the government to provide free drinking water to its people.. the water tankers were going in all directions looking for colorful buckets and eager faces.. I was one of those.. waiting by the side of the road .. standing anxiously in the queue.. and getting “social”. … it was worth an experience..I realized that water could raise the question of survival..and in the process I saw that Darwin’s “Survival of the fittest “ was no joke.. except some who were helping out everyone so that all get an equal share of what was left in those tankers, most of them were trying to fill as many buckets as possible..But no one can blame them..it was a question of survival..Once their quota was received ,they too joined the “help” group..Its true that Tough times bring people together...To be frank, I saw and met many of my neighbors for the first time that day.. Man is a social animal.. thats true.. but his social circle of interest is becoming smaller day by day.. unless of course at these tough times ..

All the colorful buckets were filled and all dull faces lightened up.. at least most of them..and the huge tanker “angels” returned to heaven..and to the relief of all,the leak had been detected by the authorities …it all happened in a day..
The first news that came from the radios which sprang into life the next day early morning was that pumping will restart by that day afternoon...It seemed that sun made a projectile from east to west slower that day.. and it sure saw the whole city celebrating from over the top ..rejoiced seeing water making a rush from their taps..ok ok..”coming like a thread”…whatever..Reports say, that the leakage was due to cracks in the pipeline which was in turn due to weight of the soil crushing it from above..whatever be the reason..it made the people aware of how important water was..that is, I think more important..they had their lesson..atleast hope so..but time will make man forget things..and next time it will be nature itself who will take the toll….so better BEWARE…..

I was so happy today........cos i ve been peeing for 20 years......my reflection told me this night…as I looked at my closest teenage companion….(of course its the 5 feet high mirror attached to the shelf).....hi hi....tats right......I turned 20…..bye bye teenage……were the words echoing in my mind at the last minutes of my teenage…..its now history…….static past….
”It is now that I realize the essential social nature of man”…..these r not my words….its from a lesson on Andamans which I remember learnin in 11th or 12th…..the speaker is a man who is put to solitary confinement in the Kalapani jail in Andaman during the pre independence period…….the reason for quoting it here is a little complex….man needs a reason for everything….he needs a reason to laugh….to cry….to be in touch…to love…...to care for… to express out his feelings….and these special days…..bdays are yet another reason for the same….and that is when u feel…or rather one of the very few times u feel that so many care for u….can man be blamed???....the only creature whose life is getting busier day by day….can he be blamed for not expressing out his feelings when he has more important work to do???.........so intellectual yet so foolish……raising himself higher than he can imagine….he is craving to get some love and care….but forgets to express it out himself….so strange…….
Mans mind is a miracle….all these thoughts came through my mind in a second and I was still looking at my companion…..
Lookin back…..I see that this was the longest day I had in my life……it started off the last day ….March12 10:30 to be precise….when I got the first phone call wishing me........A chain of calls followed till midnight and tat is when I decided to take a break….and went to sleep….early morning….and the chain continued….very few times have I seen the sun just rising and this was one of those days…did some ground exercises jus to receive the birthday bumps I was supposed to receive….and it turned out to be economical….my back took many fingerprints….
The bday special at college in our class was a seminar on “Marvelous Materials”….which brought out the connection between chemistry and Mechanical engg….very informative it was ….no doubt….but not impressive enough…..
Advancing towards our favorite hang out in college…..college canteen,I saw “GANG” waiting there….the next few minutes saw me nearing tears as I got the first gift of the day …….from “GANG”……twas least expected……twas a beautiful metal strap wrist watch…..I was wonderstruck…..actually the story ends here……the question remains……
“how did this become my longest day……???”what happened after that….??”and the shortest answer is here……a treat…wishes….home….dinner….a very grand one….more wishes….and the last wish……at 11:54…..the focus shifts back to my companion….and I see myself slanting against the wall….eyes red.....and now I know the reason for the abrupt ending…..I AM DEAD TIRED AFTER THE LONG DAY……but but…one more thing…..why was I happy today??......maybe I made myself believe that I am so happy today…..THATS IT……I SAID I AM TIRED…..U HEARD THAT……..JUS SHUT UP AND GO TO SLEEP…………so it ends here.......

Aagneya.....the festival of fire

"V TEACHERS AND STUDENTS OF THIS INSTITUTION HAVE NOTHING TO LOOSE.....BUT V WILL FACE EACH HURDLE WITH A WILL TO WIN...." were the words which unleashed the fire and set stage for a three day mega event Aagneya 08 .....the words were given by none other than our beloved principal at the inaugural ceremony ....which set our minds ignited....and the fire blazing high for the days which followed....the spirited words were in reply to the pains and challenges faced by GECIANS for the past 2 months during the making of the technocultural extravaganza.....a race which we can now be proud of winning in style....the challenges were like sand dunes ...the wind of fate putting new ones in place and they seemed waiting for us each time in the path ahead... or like jigsaw puzzles with just a couple of pieces which never fitted in place......it is ironical that one of the main events had the name Ultimate challenge.....and wasnt even near to a challenge when compared to the ones faced by our army...... one of the smallest yet the strongest in town....just handful yet capable of moving mountains.....and thats what v showed v can....a herculian task it was...no doubt...especially, when u r starting from scratch .....,when there is neither reputation nor money power to set u sailing in the long journey to success....but just a piece of log and a pair of broken oars..... and an added bonus that v had never "seen the sea"....yet v could arrive at the right land...and our target was accomplished....2 months of sweat and tears paid off as a grand climax.....much more grand than v ever dreamt of....The venue, nishagandhi was in full bloom for 3 days…or nights rather…..and all eyes were on the ever glowing stage…

The events kicked off with a brief inaugural ceremony followed by a family night …..an inhouse entertainment program aimed at entertaining families and faculties of our students respecting the importance of family and teachers to any man….The RAAGASHILA(rockshow) followed which erupted the adrenaline within and there were screams of excitement all around…..
The second night began with ALANKARA(glitz fashion) which showcased the new trends in dressing, bringing out ones creativity and dress sense….tradition was given equal importance ….and the crowd was thrilled by this tradition trend fusion……an equally thrilling yet much more dynamic event…..NAATYA(choreo video) followed which set the crowds tapping their feet and clapping their hands with the beats none left blank….all neatly choreographed….With a slight drizzle just before the end of show, the clouds let us know that even they were present for our show….
The final night saw singers performing their best…..in AALAAP(voice hunt)…challenging even the best singers in town…..all their talents were put to test in a 3 round challenge and the audience cheered putting their hands together and appreciating the “sangathis”…..
Every event needs a colorful and exciting climax and this time it was “THANDAVAS “-the fire dancers who made it thrilling during NISAGANDHI(star nite)…these professionals made the crowd gasp with their amazing performance with fire and further with high level acrobatics……..
If all the 3 nights were lit up with cultural events……it was something else that set the days and roads burning…..CHAKRA(auto show)….and those looking for raw excitement got it to the fullest…..dangerous stunts by professionals ruled the show….with bikes rarely touching the ground and cars taking 360 degree turns as though driving in ice………the crowd hardly blinked their eyes…cos they dared not to miss any stunt……
The 3 day festival of fire came to an end igniting a count down in the minds of every soul towards the same fest next year and spreading the fire of hope………

Its been full 6 years since i had my first riding experience on a bike, as a rider....though i took my licence just 1 year before....Then it was a red YAMAHA RX100...it was as old as I was then and was bought from the first lot when it didnt have a manufacturing centre in kerala...i remember it could easily carry 4 people(dad, mom,my bro and little me) and climb any hill...that was the power of the 2 stroke bike....it really suited me....I was not at all a tall guy then...but could easily climb on it and reach my feet on the ground....I havent really enjoyed throttling the bike to its maximum...had just started to learn riding a bike and was unaware of the THRILL it gave....its sound was amazing.....like always ready for a challenge.....a real masculine touch...it was surprising to me that such a smaal bike had so much power....which was matched by no other bike at that time....but the mileage aspect was a factor which it was just satisfactory at....which was the only thing in demand then.......The new era of more efficient, mileage giving bikes had started in India and Dad had no second thoughts on buying a new one....which was a TVS VICTOR...the old buddy was given at a price higher than it was bought....the production of 2 stroke bikes had been banned by then by law due to pollution norms.....and there was an increasing demand for this bike among youngsters....the new one was a revolution....due to its innovative design and styling.....its efficiency and performance....these were the features projected in the ads which were flourishing in channels those days.....but very few had noticed its lack of pick up....its when the labels and covers of the new bike started wearing off that the REAl bike began to show up.... the mileage began to come down and the shocks seemed to be softer to the road rather than to the person sitting on the bike.....by that time i had been riding the bike more often and the THRILL element had begun to dawn on me...and decided to test the limits....throttled to the bikes maximum on the kowdiar vellayambalam strech ...the economy mode had changed to power mode and the orange LED lit up for the first time..... the speedometer crossed 60 and the bike started vibtrating....it reached 70...and my hands started shaking....it touched 80...and i could hear the bike wailing......and pleading "No more...pleeaseeeeeeee.....i cant go further..."..and i had no options but to release the accelarator.....neither was I happy nor was the bike ...it had started to produce a permanent rattle.....as a result of the small torture....and sounded like a repeated a$$h*le aimed at me....this was when my old friend came to my mind....had it been there with me now.....its sppedo would have touched 100 and the accelator shouted..."Gimme more....dude..."....and this surely would have been the reason why my Dad sold it before i could test the limits....many new bikes would have come....with more power and performance....but my old friend will simply remain the best.......the one and only YAMAHA......

Confusion pops up in his mind like the fresh mushrooms, putting up their heads after the early showers.....confusion about life, about reality, about self and the world around....it goes on.......He feels the helplessness of an adolescent tree swaying in the wind changing the direction each time it does,or the exasperation of a cattle caught in the flood, trying to gulp in as much of air as possible...when emerging to the surface.....he is unsure of the beginning....so is he of the end at this age of renniasance, reasoning and retreat.....he is engulfed by darkness ,not sure of where to put his feet next....he is caught in the crowd, quickly loosing count on time....looking around as though trapped in a lone island with a wrecked ship.....crying out ......but of no use.His mind is still searching, trying hard to find the 'secret' of life........he is unaware of who he is,what his role is in this place, why he is here or what he is to achieve.... Curiosity boils within to discover the power inside him and to know about the driving forces.....that drives him through this time of understanding, the time of freedom and fearlessness.Worries about the changing world and burried failures, and unborn careers erupt now and then and nothin seems more important than knowledge of inner self. The world appears indifferent to him, with its people hating to think,to reason and to be different. All their life cycle seems similar......earn a living...mint money.....fill stomachs, make children, have pleasure.....with no thinking, lot of worries and a supressed inner self....He is following the majority .....the fear of being left behind forces him to do so....now he is trying to run ahead of them everytime....Just as small children are left in crushes nowadays.....he has no time to look after his feelings.....the childish ones, of innosence, sympathy, and happiness......which are gifted to man and man alone.......even in this era when machines rule mankind.......

End of yet another note by a mad guy.....always different from the ones around.....the one who goes for the silver lining when others point at the black cloud...........

this is my first blog ....wanted to write this as my first as this is my first written creation....dont know what actually made me do this....but these were thoughts that came to my mind on the 29nov 2005...had a habit of writing daily notes.....Diary...rather....this one is something out of normal......unusual....here goes.....
The essence of man's life is dreams...the more virtual, the more wild, the more unimaginable his dreams are,the more successful the person ll be....like someone said in the past.. a seemingly idle mans mind is no more a devils workshop...its full of thoughts and dreams motivating him everytime he does dream....He is in search of that unconquerable world and those hidden treasures still waiting to be buried waiting to be discovered just like the ancient cities of Harappa and Mohenjedaro were once(now dont ask me questions on that...).The world is laughing at him now,but there will be a time,a day when the spotlight comes in search of him, tracing his path everytime he moves....because it is said....dreams pave the way to success...The art of thinking is considered a waste of time by most, but without it,the concept of "The Ultimate"is impossible....Equally important is the art of thinking different. All the human race still has the false belief that only he has the power to think and dream....although there is no proof against it...the truth is that he doesnt have the power to imagine beyond itor even consider the possibility of happening otherwise. Most great men have become great by mastering the art of thinking different, let it be Albert Einsten or the Great Mahatma himself....all of them tried to swim against the currents...while the mass swam down and got lost in the muddy waters....Not all great men were born great...instead were certified a 'good for nothing by the society' and were mere objects which were once laughed at.....Then how did they become great....and how did they gain respect from the same people??It is through vision...to be precise through dreams...It is dreams which gave them the courage, the motivation and the power to achieve and to excel in life.......Dreams dreams dreams.Dreams turn into thoughts and thoughts turn into action.......

it may seem more like an essay type....maybe because it was written at a time when i was used to writing essays for English exams...just for scoring marks....but this is my first literary work........so had a soft corner for the same......and i publish it......
